Indonesia postponed the World Rally Championship (WRC) scheduled to be held in a plantation area in South Sulawesi from 2010 to 2011, the national Antara News Agency reported Friday.
"WRC Indonesia is not canceled but postponed for some reasons," said Jeffrey JP, promotor of the championship.
The Federation Internationale d`Automobile (FIA) asked Indonesia to improve its infrastructure such as race track to meet WRC standard, where racers could increase its speed to 80-85 km per hour.
Indonesia hosted WRC in 1996 and 1997. Both were staged in North Sumatra. Carlos Sainz, a Spanish racer, won the race. |
