The Myanmar cycling team will participate in the forthcoming the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) Track Asia Cup 2008 cycling tournament in Bangkok this week, local media reported Monday.

The Myanmar cycling team, comprising two cyclists -- one man and one woman -- will compete in four cycling events. Aung Phyo will enter in men's 1,000-meter time trial and men's 4,000-meter pursuit events, while Aye Thin in women's 500-meter time trial and women's 3,000-meter pursuit in the ACC Track Asia Cup 2008 tournament scheduled on Oct. 10-12, the weekly Myanmar Times said.

As a preparation for the tournament, the Myanmar cycling team has entered the Mobile Sub-center training camp, which has been organized by the Continental Cycling Center based in Shuzenji, Japan, at Velodrome Huamark in Bangkok, Thailand, from Sept. 30 up to Oct. 9, one day before competition gets underway, it added.

The Myanmar Cycling Federation (MCF), founded in 1947, has won one gold, one silver and nine bronze medals from the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games since 1961.
