Adriano to Replace Fabiano on Brazilian National Team
    2008-10-02 07:53:13     Xinhua

Due to his muscle injury earlier in the week, Luis Fabiano was cut on Wednesday from the Brazilian men's national soccer team, and will be replaced by Adriano, said head coach Dunga.

Brazil's upcoming games will be on October 12 and 15, against Venezuela and Colombia, respectively, for the 2010 World Cup qualifier of South America.

Fabiano was hurt during a practice session with his Spanish team, Sevilla, on Tuesday. He has been given leave of absence and is expected to arrive in Brazil later this week to receive physical therapy from the national team's doctor Jorge Luis Runco.

Without the team's leading scorer in the 2010 qualifiers (four goals), Dunga has opted to bring in Adriano.

It has been more than more than four months since Adriano participated in a game or practice with the national team. Adriano will be playing with two other teammates from his Italian team Internazionale: Julio Cesar and Mancini.
