The 2007 Omega Mission Hills Golf World Cup opened on Wednesday with a total prize of five million U.S. dollars.
Originated in 1953, the golf World Cup has been labelled "The Olympics of Golf", and is the highest level in team competition.
Fifty-six top players from 28 countries and regions will take part in the World Cup from Nov. 22 to 25, and the tournament are to be broadcast in over 140 countries and regions.
Some of the star players are ready to fight for the title, like South Africa's twice U.S. Open Championship winner Retief Goosen, Canada's Mike Weir and England's new force Justin Rose.
Twelve years ago, Mission Hills successfully held the 1995 World Cup. Last year the world class golf club got the right of hosting the next 12 World Cup. |
