Barcellos: Brazil Will Spare No Effort to Face Denmark
    2007-09-18 16:59:38     Xinhua
Brazil coach Jorge Barcellos has vowed that his side will try their best to play Denmark in the last round Group D game at the FIFA Women's World Cup on Wednesday.

Brazil have notched 6 points after two impressive wins over New Zealand and China, cramming 9 goals with a clean sheet in defence, and have virtually booked a ticket to the knockout stage if no strange things happen.

Denmark are level with China with three points, but bettering the hosts with a four goal margin on goal difference. Should Brazil spared some efforts and lost to Denmark, China have to score at least five goals on New Zealand to advance.

"Although we have won two matches, we are yet to reach the quarter-finals. So we'll do our best against Denmark tomorrow," said Barcellos at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

"Denmark is a good team. They control the ball well and like to use both sides to attack. Their No. 8 (Julie Rydahl Bukh) and No.10 (Anne Dot Eggers Nielsen) are two players that we should pay some attention."

Brazilian players Aline, Renata Costa and Daniela each has a yellow card, and may get a one-match suspension if getting another in the Denmark clash.

Barcellos said he would consider seriously on this matter and decide later whether to let these players play. But the coach made it clear that ace striker Marta will play as starter on Wednesday.

"She will be in the starting list. But how long she will play depends on the specific situation during the game."

Barcellos denied he had any pressure as Brazil gradually became one of the tournament favourites after excellent performance.

"We came here for the title. So we don't have any pressure. Now it's just the beginning, we have a long way to go," he said.
