Marriage on Yao Ming's Summer Agenda
    2007-07-02 20:26:11     Shanghai Daily

Marriage is on Yao Ming's summer agenda.

"But the wedding day hasn't been scheduled as summer is a busy match season for him," Yao's agent Zhang Mingji told Youth Daily on Sunday.

It's widely known that Yao and his fianc¨¦e Ye Li, who plays on the women's national basketball team, will apply for a marriage certificate within a couple of days, and a wedding party will be held this month, a month earlier than scheduled, said the report.

Ye Li is also a Shanghai player.

But Yao Ming, his relatives and Zhang refused to comment on the rumor.

Zhang told the newspaper that "Yao puts the honor of playing for the nation in first place and will obey the plans of the man's national basketball team."

Yao flew back to Shanghai, his hometown, Sunday for a short family reunion and get-together with friends.

Tuesday morning, he will fly to Beijing in his role as an ambassador of the 2007 Special Olympic Games. Yao is scheduled to fly back to Shanghai Tuesday night.
