Cavaliers Beat Pistons to Reach NBA Finals

The Cleveland Cavaliers scored a 98-82 home victory over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday, advancing to the NBA finals for the first time in their 36-year history.


The Cavaliers won the best-of-seven series Eastern Conference 4-2, becoming the third team in NBA history to rally from an 0-2 deficit at the stage of the playoffs.


Cleveland will thus head to San Antonio to take on the Spurs in Game One of the finals on Thursday.


LeBron James, who scored 48 points in Game Five, netted in 20 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out eight assists for the Cavaliers.


Rookie Daniel Gibson had 19 of his career-high 31 points in the final quarter as the Cavs broke open a close game after leading by one going into the final period.


Richard Hamilton led the Detroit with 29 points.
