The 7th Chinese National Games for the Disabled Conclude

The 7th Chinese National Games for the Disabled concluded on Sunday in Kunming city of southwestern China's Yunnan province.

There are 815 gold medals in the Games. The Chinese athletes surpassed 91 world records in track and field, swimming and weightlifting.

The event started from May 12, with 20 competition items including wheelchair fencing, wheelchair tennis and goalball.

Over 4,000 athletes from 31 provinces and municipalities as well as Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions participated in the event.

It is considered as an important exercise for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, and China will select athletes through this event for the Paralympics.

There are over 82 million disabled people in China. The National Games for the Disabled are held every four years. The next will be held in Hangzhou city of Zhejiang province in 2011.
