The Chinese swimmers surpassed three world records in the first day's events at the 7th National Games for the Disabled on Sunday.

Wang Xiaofu, the most famous Chinese disabled swimmer who lit the cauldron at Saturday evening's opening ceremony, made the splash first, bettering his own world record of 2:25.74 by timing in 2:24.29 in the heats of the men's 200m individual medley (SM8) Sunday morning.

In the afternoon, Li Hanhua showed surprising prowess in the men's 50m freestyle (S2), clocking a winning time of 51.54 seconds to exceed American Curtis Lovejoy's world record of 1:00.11 set up in Sydney seven years ago by 8.57 seconds.

Du Jianping overshadowed Czech swimmer Martin Kovar's world record of 45.65 seconds in the men's 50m freestyle (S3) in 44.73 seconds.
