Both teams set up the home bases in Dongguan of Guangdong Province, with the Hongyuan never losing in the arch-rival matchups.

The three-time defending champion built up a 25-point lead after three quarters on 95-70 as it won on every 12 minutes.

The home team New Century ran 13-2 at the start of the fourth quarter but not enough to close the gap enough before the Hongyuan regained the big lead for the good.

Former MVP Wang Zhizhi, who scored 51 points on Wednesday's game, led the Bayi Rockets to a 80-68 win over the Zhejiang Guangsha with 26 points and 10 rebounds.

Wang, who had a five-year spell in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 2001-05 before he ended his career at the Miami Heat, proved he could be the key factor for the former seven-time champion Bayi to revaperate its glory of last century.

Chen Chen contributed 22 points and Wu Qian had 10 points and nine rebounds when the Rockets were waiting for the return of top shooter Li Nan, who is nursing his knee surgery in the United States.

After two disappointing losses, the Beijing Ducks cheered up the home fans with a 100-76 victory over the Shannxi Hans.

The Ducks started the season without pivot center Menke Bateer, who failed to settle down a contract with the club this summer.

The Liaoning Hunters pocketed the third consecutive victory by beating the Shandong Flaming Bulss 103-99 on the road.

Patrick Simpson scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Hunters while point guard Zhang Qingpeng having 24 points.

In Friday's other matches, Zhejiang Cyclones defeated Shanghai Sharks 102-96; Fujian SBS beat Yunnan Honghe 88-84; Xinjiang Guanghui slashed down Shanxi Zhongyu 107-92; Jiangsu Dragons disposed of Jilin Northeast Tigers 87-78.
