Olympic Champion Kong Linghui Retires

China's table tennis veteran Kong Linghui announced his retirement on Thursday, a week before his 31st birthday.

Kong is the third-ever table tennis grand slam winner of Olympic, world championships and World Cup men's singles titles. The other winners are Liu Guoliang of China and Jan-Ove Walder of Sweden.

Kong, who coached local Super League side Ningbo Haitian before his retirement, will vie for a coaching role on the national ping-pong team.
