The Asian Football Federation has handed out bans to two Chinese players Shao Jiayi and Li Weifeng for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup qualifying round matches.
Energie Cottbus midfielder Shao will miss the rest of China's Asian Cup qualifying campaign after he was sent off for elbowing in injury time at the end of China's 0-0 draw with Singapore earlier this month, the AFC said on its website.
He will miss the games against Palestine in Jordan on Oct. 11 and Iraq in Changsha on Nov. 15. He was also fined 3,000 U.S. dollars for violent conduct.
China captain Li Weifeng was levied a one-match ban, missing the next qualifier against Palestine after receiving two yellow cards in two separate matches against Iraq on March 1 and Singapore on September 6.
