Hosts China started their softball World Championship with a perfect 10-0 win over Great Britain in Beijing.

CRI Special: ISF Women's World Championship

China improved its record against Britain from 10-2 last month at the World Cup in the United States to a clean sweep victory today at the newly-renovated Fengtai Softball Field.

Earlier, Zhou Yin, one of China's pitchers, told CRI that the team is confident to provide the home fans with great fun.

The ISF 11th Women's World Championship opened in Beijing, with 16 teams ready to compete for four tickets to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The roars of the spectators accompanied by salute guns turned the fully packed 13,000-seat-field into a wild sea of euphoria after Liu Qi, President of the Beijing Olympic Games Organizing Committee, opened the quadrennial softball event.
