China's Zheng into French Open Second Round

China's Zheng Jie caused an upset at the French Open on Tuesday as she defeated 23rd seed Tatiana Golovin of France in straight sets to enter the women's singles second round.

Zheng, whose best showing in Roland Garros was in 2004 when she reached the fourth round, won her opener 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in 1 hour 48 minutes.

The 22-year-old Zheng now faces Croatia's Ivana Lisjak for a place in the third round.

On another court, Zheng's compatriot Yan Zi conceded a defeat to Jamea Jackson of the United States 6-2, 6-3.
