China University of Geosciences in Wuhan in central China's Hubei Province is now the first Chinese university to have a national quadruple A-level tourist attraction on its campus.
The Yifu Museum of China University of Geosciences was recently approved by the National Tourism Administration as an AAAA-level tourist attraction. The Yifu Museum, now 23 years old, is the largest and most modernized university museum in the country. Funded by the Shaw Foundation (Hong Kong) Ltd., the museum was enlarged between 2001 and 2003. The museum now has an exhibition area of 5,000 square meters.
The museum is home to over 30,000 geoscience specimens, including some 300 rare and priceless collections.
A precious stone shopping street, mountain climbing training zone and underground tunnel, the only one of its kind among all China's universities, are also located near the Yifu Museum.
