  N: Hey everyone, welcome to another late night edition of Music English here on CRI 91.5 FM. I’m Nancy.
C: Hey and I’m Chris. On tonight’s Music English we’re going to feature some music by a very special Canadian musician named Ember Swift. She’s a singer-songwriter that tours extensively and has been releasing albums since 1997.
N: That’s right. And Chris was lucky enough to catch up with her for an interview while he was in Canada.
C: Yeah, I met her at a music festival called Blue Skies. It takes place near my hometown and I’ve been going there since I was quite young. So this edition of Music English is very special for me, because it lets me bring some of Canada’s BEST summer sounds to you here in China.
N: Ember Swift (spell) EMBER SWIFT(灰烬迅速即逝) has been making music since she was quite young. But one of the first things you’ll notice is her beautiful voice and equally beautiful lyrics. She writes about a wide variety of topics, but specializes in speaking her mind. And what I mean by that is that she isn’t afraid to tell the truth in front of any audience.
C: Her songs talk about issues ranging from globalization and consumer awareness to feminism, queer politics and the environment. But she’s also got a much lighter side that addresses equally important issues like love, travel and…underwear! She IS committed to telling the truth, right down to her last pair of underpants! Let’s hear a quick sample of the song we’re going to be hearing tonight.
N: I have to add that Ember Swift isn’t alone (pause slightly, giggle if the urge hits): her group also consists of a few other talented musicians, most of who have been with her for a long time. One is Lyndell Montgomery, who plays violin and bass guitar. And on drums and percussion she’s accompanied by two very talented players, Adam Bowman and Cheryl Reid. The two drummers don’t play on stage at the same time, however, and switch places during their hectic touring schedule.
