"Seven Swords" Takings Are Dismal

Chinese director Tsui Hark's much-touted film "Seven Swords" premieres at 12 o'clock midnight tonight in Beijing's cinemas.



However the tickets are not selling well. Only about ten people have come to the cinemas to buy tickets, and no one has booked a ticket on the telephone.

 

Few people want to stay up late to watch the premiere as they have to work the next morning.

 

But box office takings for midnight film premieres are frequently dismal.

 

"Seven Swords " opens this year's Venice Film Festival.
