Seven Swords: 2.5 hrs for Theaters and 4 hrs for DVD
2005-6-10 9:54:14      CRIENGLISH.com
The original cut of Seven Swords runs about 4 hours, which is too long for being released in theaters, according to the Beijing News.

The distributors were worried that such an over-lengthy running time would affect screening arrangements and box-office takings.

So the film's director Tsui Hark and editor Angie Lam re-edited it to two versions: 150 minute and 120 minute. Finding the 120-minute version suffering from underdeveloped character relationships, the investors opted for the 150-minute.

Finally the 150-minute version was chosen, as the one to be released in theaters and the 4-hour version will be released on DVD.
