Chinese director Gu Changwei's movie "Peacock" and Tsai Ming-Liang's movie "The Wayward Cloud" are competing for the Golden Bear Award on this year's Berlin Film Festival.

The committee of the Berlin Film Festival announced the nomination list yesterday.

Sixteen films out of twenty-one nominees are expected to premiere at the film festival. Half of the films are from European countries. Only three nominated films are from Asian.

The 55th Berlin International Film Festival will open on February 10 with the world premiere of Régis Wargnier's "Man to Man".
