The Climbing League of the China Agriculture University was founded in December 2003 by a group of students who believe in "Who can walk can climb". They invited the former captain of the China National Climbing Team as their honorary president and some professional climbers as their coaches. By now, the league has attracted over 250 members.
The Climbing League is an amateur group. Anyone student in the university who's interesting in climbing is welcomed. Their purpose is not to conquer the highest peaks but to cultivate the courage and the spirits of self-challenging and team working in young people.
In March 2004, the Climbing League set up their first training base in the picturesque Jiufeng Forrest Park located in suburban Beijing. Chen Zhangliang, the president of China Agriculture University, joined the young climbers to climb up to the summit of the Jiufeng Peak, which is 1225 meters high.
Encouraged by their school, the young climbers undergo difficult training and make their own "spirits of the league."
