May 23, 2005 Xi'an Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone, Xi'an Jiaotong University

In the morning we toured the Xi'an Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone. It is a large area to the southwest of the heart of Xi'an. It has been in planning since the early 1990's and is one of the major centers for all kinds of technology such as computer chips and software development.

I've made many friends in China

Later we went to Xi'an Jiaotong University. We were told about the university history which is as long as those in Kansas. The university main area of focus is in science and technology and it works closely with the Xi'an Hi-tech industries.

Finally we stopped at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and toured the Buddhist temple and walked through the surrounding businesses since the period at the temple were the highest we had seen since coming into China.

The day ended with our boarding the Z20 train for Beijing with four of us guys to room again.

We had dinner in the train in the dinning car. Than I had a new assignment to write an outlines to prepare a 1500 word article to be published by CRI about my feelings about my travels in China.
