There are various cheap and cheerful places to grab a bite to eat on the way up Mount Tai and on Heavenly Street (Tian Jie), most serving local dishes and noodles. Prices rise with height so beware! It is also a good idea to take some of your own provisions with you and the Global Bakery on Hongmen Road is a good place to pick up some picnic food.
In Taian town, there are a few good restaurants, most of which are located in the big hotels. The Taishan Hotel and the Overseas Chinese Hotel serve the best selection of Chinese cuisine. The Overseas Chinese hotel has 15 restaurants, including an authentic Italian restaurant. On Hongmen Road, there are some nice places to eat too. The Dafugui Restaurant is an upmarket place serving local specialties such as red-scaled carp and hibiscus curd.
