The memorial museum and the Cemetery of the "Young General" are located in Tai'an County, Liaoning Province, where Chang Hs¨šeh-liang was born.
Born in 1901, Chang Hs¨šeh-liang was son of the Chinese warlord Chang Tso-lin. In 1936, he had Chiang Kai-shek, the former head of the Kuomintang, kidnapped to force cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communists in order to jointly declare war against Japan. He spent 55 years in house arrest until the early 1990s and died at the age of 100 in 2001.

The memorial museum keeps the objects Chang had used in his early years as well as some of his handwritten articles.
Three old jujube trees stand exuberant on the yard of the museum. But in 2001, when Chang passed away, they didn't burgeon at all, according to a guide with the museum.
Chen Daluo, a visitor from the U.S.-China Friendship Association, says that it has been his life-long expectation to visit the place of birth of the young general whom he respects very much.
The Cemetery of the Young General, located in the Xiping Forest Park, has attracted over 700 visitors every day during the May Day holiday, said the ground keeper.
