A wild Chinese sturgeon, which is the largest ever known in China, has arrived in Beijing Aquarium yesterday.
This female sturgeon is 3.2 meters long and weighs 222 kilograms.
It has traveled over 1200 kilometers during the 23-hour non-stop delivery from Jingzhou, in Hubei province, to the capital city.
A group of 14 artificially reproduced Chinese sturgeons, with ranging from 1 to 1.86 meters long, have arrived in Beijing on March 26.
By now, 15 sturgeons have settled down in Beijing Aquarium, guarded around-the-clock by experts.
People will be able to visit this sturgeon family after April 22nd.
The Chinese sturgeons are called ˇ°living fossilsˇ± because the species has a history of 140 million years.
