Tourists to be Guided by Electronic Guide
2005-4-10 14:39:55
The Beijing Times reports that in May this year, tourists who visit the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace, can hire "electronic guides" while sightseeing.

The virtual guide allows visitors to choose their preferred route ahead of time, and also calculates the amount of time they will spend. When they reach a scenic spot, the electronic guide will display detailed information about it, just like a tour guide.

The electronic guide is roughly the size of two packages of cigarettes and is very similar to a Walkman cassette player.

The guide currently has three routes for visitors to choose from and costs about 100 yuan, or 12 US dollars to rent.
