ALLEN: Did you have to climb the 4000 meters something or did you have help along the way? Did you take a cable car maybe?
SUN YANG: Yes, I take a cable car. The cable car sends us from 3000 high to 3,500 meters. So we begin climbing from 3,500 to the up.
ALLEN: How did you get to the 3000 meter mark?
SUN YANG: By bus.
ALLEN: By bus? Ok!
ALLEN: What¡¯s it difficult to climb the last hundred meters at the top?
SUN YANG: I don¡¯t think so. We are young people. I think I saw some middle aged people feeling a little difficult to climb above 4000 meters.
ALLEN: Because it is difficult to breath the thin air?
SUN YANG: Yes. But remember this: push yourself beyond limits.
ALLEN: How are the people in Yunnan? Are they friendly to you?
SUN YANG: Yes. When we get off the train, there are a lot of people came to help us, they came to you and introduce the hotel and help you find the way. You know Yunnan province has many minorities including: Bai, Yi, and Naxi.
ALLEN: Bai, Yi, and Naxi? Did you go and visit them in the villages?
SUN YANG: Yes. We visited the village of Bai minority in Dali and those of Naxi in Lijiang.
ALLEN: Which minority village did you like the most?
SUN YANG: I think the Naxi is very unique. Especially those of the Mosuo people. You know, the Mosuo people is a branch of the Naxis.
ALLEN: I heard the Mosuo people are matriarchal society?
