China's railway authorities are predicting two travel peaks with an increasing number of passengers over the next several days.
Wang Yongping, with the Ministry of Railways, says big cities like Beijing and Guangzhou will have their rail transportation capabilities tested with the two peaks expected right before the Chinese Spring Festival.
"The first travel peak mainly involves home-returning migrant workers and students. The second peak is mainly brought about by people who make visits during the upcoming holiday."
The ministry has transferred personnel and trains from less strained areas to places with more passengers in an attempt to keep up with demand.
