Hu Weidong was on Monday presented with a Dallas Mavericks' No. 8 jersey by the team's president and former coaches Del Harris and Don Nelson.

Hu Weidong, the coach of Jiangsu's Nangang basketball team, was on Monday presented with a Dallas Mavericks' No. 8 jersey by the team's president and former coaches Del Harris and Don Nelson.

Considered to be China's answer to NBA megastar Michael Jordan, Hu Weidong was offered the chance to play for the NBA in 1998.

But he was injured when the Mavericks offered him a contract. This prevented him from taking up the offer that would have made him the first Chinese to play in the NBA.

Seven years after Hu Weidong lost the chance to play in NBA, he now finally fulfills his dream, wearing an NBA team jersey.
