The International Olympic Committee said following the attacks in London, that it was confident the city would be able to provide a secure environment for the 2012 Games.

The bombing came just about one day after London was awarded as host city for the 2012 Olympic Games.

A series of terror blasts have ripped through central London, leaving scores of casualties.

IOC spokeswoman Giselle Davies they have full confidence in the London authorities to secure the Games.

She said the IOC did not believe the attacks were related to the city winning the right to host the 2012 Games.

IOC president Jacques Rogge has contacted British Prime Minister Tony Blair and London Mayor Ken Livingstone to offer his support and sympathy for the events.
