2005-6-26 11:57:45

Mahyar Monshipour KOs Julio Zarate to retain his WBA super-bantamweight title.
French boxer Mahyar Monshipour retained his World Boxing Association super-bantamweight title on Saturday in Poitiers, southwestern France.
The 30-year-old was floored once by his Mexican opponent Julio Zarate in the fourth round.
However, Monshipour responded in the eighth round with a right uppercut that ended Zarate's hopes.
Zarate quit early in the ninth round to hand Monshipour the win.
Iranian-born Monshipour has now won his last nine fights. He is likely to face World Boxing Confederation champion Oscar Larios from Mexico next year.
