The U.S. government has been reviewing all of its direct aid to the Palestinian government following the election victory of Hamas, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing on Tuesday.
"There is a review that is ongoing concerning all aspects of U.S. aid to the Palestinian people," McCormack said.
As to the humanitarian needs of the Palestinians, McCormack said that the United States is going to look at those "on a case-by-case basis."
As to the indirect U.S. assistance to Palestine through USAID to NGOs, the spokesman said that projects that are currently underway will continue. However, for those planned or proposed projects, "those are part of the review that is ongoing now," he said.
"So there are projects that are continuing with USAID money during this period of the interim government, but there is also a review process that is ongoing that would cover proposed or new projects," McCormack said.
