Cambodia Lashes Out at U.S. over Human Trafficking Report
2005-6-8 20:58:13    CRIENGLISH.com
Cambodia has dismissed U.S. sanction threat against the country for failing to curb human trafficking.

In a report released last Friday, the U.S. State Department said Cambodia had failed to comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of human trafficking.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Wednesday that he was not surprised or bothered by the US's threat.

Hun Sen stressed that the US committed worse deeds to Cambodia in the past.

The premier's adviser Om Yentieng earlier said that the sanction would be unjust and he added that they have measures to fight human trafficking.

U.S. warplanes heavily bombed Cambodia in the early 70s.

Unexploded bombs and land mines, left over from the conflict, still maim Cambodian civilians in the countryside.
