The WHO said in a report that around a million people in developing countries were now getting antiretroviral therapy, compared to only 400,000 in December 2003.
The WHO said 27 billion dollars had been allocated for HIV/AIDS globally for 2005-2007. However, at least an additional 18 billion dollars is still needed.
It called on governments and organizations to give more aid support to build more infrastructure and sanitation mechanisms.
