NASA Optimistic about Shuttle Launch
2005-6-29 9:04:12    CRIENGLISH.com
US Space Agency NASA says it's ready for the launch next month of its first shuttle mission since the Columbia disaster in 2003.
NASA administrator Michael Griffin said Tuesday that NASA is ready for the July shuttle launch.

Griffin's optimism contrasted with a panel set up to oversee NASA's resumption of shuttle flights.

The Return to Flight task force wrote in a report Monday that the space agency has failed to fully meet three of the 15 safety recommendations put forth by investigators of the Columbia accident.

NASA will give a final review on the shuttle's flight readiness and set a launch date for the newly retooled shuttle Discovery.

The aircraft has undergone many modifications in design following the Columbia disaster, in which all seven astronauts aboard were killed.
