How Do I Do This?
2005-6-2 17:45:21
You can listen to podcasts many ways. Podcasting is not just for iPods! The phrase podcasting rhymes with broadcasting, and although the "pod" is a little misleading, you can listen on your computer or use other personal listening devices.

Listen through a free version of iTunes You will also need to download a free installed version of iPodder, the "pod-catcher."

Note: iPodder supports multiple operating systems, although Windows users may wish to consider getting Doppler as a podcast receiver, as it is designed specifically for this operating system. iTunes supports Apple and Windows operating systems.

Listen using your iPod

Follow the instructions above, and simply synchronize your iPod with iTunes!

Listen on a portable MP3 player other than an iPod  You can still transfer podcasts as mp3 files and listen on the run. There may be some manual transfer requirements, depending upon your configuration.  You can automatically sync to any MP3 player that uses Windows Media.

Listen by using any RSS feed aggregator that supports RSS 2.0 (many do).

In this configuration the news aggregator becomes the "pod-catcher." Then you can link out to whatever your computer uses for listening to mp3's, such as Windows Media Player, Quicktime, MusicMatch, etc.
