2005-6-2 16:07:30    CRIENGLISH.com
A car bomb targeting a restaurant where bodyguards of Iraq's Kurdish deputy prime minister were eating has killed nine people and injured 25.

Police said a bodyguard of Deputy Prime Minister Rowsch Nouri Shaways was among the nine killed. Twenty-five people were wounded, including six of Shaways' bodyguards. Shaways was not at the restaurant.

The bomb exploded on Thursday morning in Tuz Khormato, a town 55 miles south of the northern oil city of Kirkuk.

Also on Thursday, a car bomb attack killed the deputy head of Diyala provincial council and three of his bodyguards north of Baghdad.

Meanwhile, in Kirkuk, a suicide car bomber killed two Iraqi bystanders and wounded eight others.

Iraq's fledgling security forces have become daily targets of a wave of violence that has killed at least 772 people since the April 28th announcement of Iraq's new government.
