Hu Jintao Meets Russian Veterans

Chinese President Hu Jintao has met with Russian war veterans, who helped China in fighting Japanese invaders in World War II.

During the meeting at the Chinese embassy in Moscow on Sunday, the Chinese president expressed his gratitude to more than 20 Russian war veterans for their assistance in fighting Japanese invaders.

He also elaborated on China's foreign policy and China's determination to seek a peaceful development.

Hu Jintao appealed to the international community to take history as a mirror and safeguard world peace.

The Chinese president arrived in Moscow on Sunday for the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the victory of the World War Two in Europe.

Hu Jintao is expected to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and other state leaders during his stay in Russia.
