N. American Jews Arrive to Set up Life in the West Bank
2005-12-29 11:23:24    CRIENGLISH.com
About 250 North American Jews landed on Wednesday in Israel hoping to build their new homes in the West Bank settlements.

Charley Leaven, spokesman of the Nefesh B'Nefesh Organization which is dedicated to the revitalization of North American Aliyah, said the new settlement of these American Jews in the West Bank represents a landmark in their life.

"Twelve hours ago 250 North Americans Jews lit the Menorah of the holiday of Hanukkah at JFK Airport. Today they are lightening the next candle in Israel in their own homes. This is what this particular week is all about, Jews living as free people in their own country, in Israel and that's what we're seeing here today. This is 7,000 North Americans jews in the last few years who have moved to Israel".

The increase of number has been attributed to a downturn in violence that followed a February Israeli-Palestinian truce after five years of conflicts.
