3 Including Policeman Kidnapped by Taliban in W. Afghanistan
2005-12-25 16:59:11    CRIENGLISH.com

Three persons including one policeman were kidnapped Saturday by Taliban militants in Afghanistan's western province of Farah, a local official said Sunday.

"Last night in Gulistan district a group of Taliban militants attacked local police and injured one policeman who is my nephew. They also attacked one vehicle and kidnapped three persons inside including one policeman and two trible leaders,"

Mohammad Qasim Majbor, the district chief told Xinhua.

"The searching operation has been carried out, but no one has been arrested so far," he added.

Spokesperson of Taliban Qari Yusuf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for the attack and kidnapping, but said they have killed the nephew of the district chief and kidnapped six policemen. As the bordering province with Iran, Farah is a comparatively calm province where militancy seldom happens.
