Macao has so far seen 160 injuries caused by the fireworks during the celebrations of the Chinese lunar New Year holiday, which was kicked off on Jan. 28.

A statement issued Friday by the Macao Red Cross said those injured were recorded at the first-aid stations at the two fireworks zones in town.

Most of the wounded aged between 20s and 30s, said the statement, adding that most of them sustained minor eye, hand, leg and face injuries.

During the lunar New Year holiday, the Macao Red Cross dispatched some 200 volunteers to the fireworks zones, the only sections in the region where the fireworks celebrations are permitted.

The annual fireworks season was concluded on Friday.
