The Chinese armed forces are ready to work with the Romanian side to achieve stable and healthy development of military ties between the two sides, said Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan here Friday.

In a meeting with Ion Mircea Plangu, secretary of state of the Romanian Ministry of Defense, Cao said China and Romania have always enjoyed smooth development of bilateral relations since forging diplomatic ties five decades ago, with frequent high-level visits and active cooperation in various fields.

Cao said the armed forces between China and Romania also maintain close exchanges and cooperation. "The Chinese armed forces attach importance to the military ties with Romania, and are willing to further promote the friendly cooperation with the Romanian side," he noted.

Plangu said the development of military ties between Romania and China have maintained sound momentum in recent years. "Romania is ready to join hands with China in further enhancing cooperation in military and other fields," he said.
