A panda expert says mainland scientists are ready to work with their Taiwan counterparts for the construction of home of giant pandas in Taiwan.

Zhang Hemin with an expert panel for selection of pandas for Taiwan noted mainland zoologists' experience on panda breeding would help make pandas' life more comfortable in Taiwan.

Meanwhile, Hong Wendong, head of a Taiwan zoo association, said more than 40 percent of the construction of pandas' home in the island has completed and he welcomed mainland experts' participation in the project.

The Chinese mainland promised to give a pair of giant pandas to Taiwan as gifts during the historic visit of then Kuomintang Party leader Lien Chan to the mainland in early May.
