The Chinese Ambassador to the UN has said China and the US share certain concerns in terms of reform of the UN Security Council.
Wang Guangya made the remarks after meeting US Ambassador Shirin Tahir-Kheli, Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State for UN Reform.
"The basic idea China and the US share is the discussion on the enlargement UN Security Council should be a process of seeking concensus."
Wang Guangya claimed that the Group of 4 countries - Germany, Japan, India and Brazil - are now trying to dominate the enlargement process of the UN Security Council, by increasing of six permanent members, whose veto power would be frozen for 15 years, and four non-permanent members in the Security Council.
The ambassador said these countries were aiming only at fulfilling their self-interest in pursuing ambitions of becoming permanent members, which, in his opinion, is dangerous for devlopment because it will cause separation of member countries.
