Chairman Yok Mu-ming and his New Party delegation from Taiwan visited the Lugou Bridge and a memorial for the Sino-Japanese war in Beijing on Monday.

The New Party delegation is on an eight-day mainland tour to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Sino-Japanese war.

The Japanese army attacked Lugou Bridge on July 7th, 1937 and the Chinese army fought back, sparking off an eight-year war of resistance against invading Japanese troops.

Chairman Yok Mu-ming said his party's mainland tour is to remind people "to remember history and look forward to the future bearing in mind the lessons to be learned from history".

The New Party, established in 1993 in Taiwan, supports the One-China policy and is opposed to the independence of Taiwan. The party has been engaged in efforts to promote cross-Straits relations.
