2005 Huangguoshu Waterfall Festival to Open

The 2005 Huangguoshu Waterfall Festival will be staged from August 16th to September 22nd.

The splendid waterscape of the Huangguoshu Waterfall have long been the most famous image of Guizhou province, in southwest China.

The 84-meter-wide curtain of water falls into a pool 74 meters below, creating one of the most beautiful scenes in the country.

The festival aims to show case the unique landscape of the province and its colorful multi-ethnic cultures.

Guizhou province is rich in tourism resources. The Karst landscape covers 73 percent of the province, resulting in numerous waterfalls, caves and gorges. In addition, it's clean and moist air, thanks to the rich forests, making the province a grand garden.

Besides the well-known Huangguoshu Waterfall, Guizhou boasts over 130 natural reserves.

The province is also home to nearly 40 ethnic minorities, each with their own unique culture.

To further boost the tourism industry and guarantee sustained economic development, the provincial government will host several trade fairs during the Waterfall Festival, and a number of franchise licenses to run tourism projects in Guizhou will also be granted. (Photo Source: caijin.net)
