Li Guixian calls for increased Sino-US economic cooperation.

A senior Chinese official is calling for increased economic cooperation between China and the United States.

Addressing the Sino-U.S. New Market Economy Forum in Beijing Saturday, the Vice Chairman of China's top advisory body Li Guixian said China and the US are the driving forces of the world economy.

He said China is the world's largest developing country and the U.S. is the largest developed country, thus their economies are comlementary and it's imperative that they cooperate to promote global economic development.

The two-day forum mainly focuses on perfecting China's market economic system and urging more countries to recognize its market economic status.
