Overseas Media Hail Soong's Visit
2005-5-15 8:56:53    CRIENGLISH.com
Overseas media have praised the People First Party Chairman James Soong's mainland visit.

Related Event: Peaceful Reunification

Editorials in the Singapore United Morning Post and Indonesia's World Journal say James Soong's visit strengthens relations between the Communist Party of China and the People First Party.

They also describe peace and trade as fresh impetus for cross-Straits relations.

Meanwhile, a US-based Chinese newspaper the China Press calls on the Taiwan authorities to give up separatist attempts and recognize the "1992 consensus", which advocates the one China principle.

In addition, the Association for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China in Serbia and Montenegro says the two party leaders' meeting will help defuse Taiwan separatist activities and promote China's peaceful reunification.

Overseas Chinese in Australia, the Netherlands and Belgium also believe James Soong's mainland tour will be conducive to peace across the Taiwan Straits.
