China, Indonesia Forge Strategic Partnership

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have signed a joint statement on strategic partnership between the two countries.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have signed a joint statement on strategic partnership between the two countries.
Hu Jintao is on a state visit to Indonesia after attending the Asian-African Summit and the 50th anniversary of the Bandung conference.
He said the statement marked a new stage in China-Indonesia relationship and will put important influence to China-ASEAN ties.
 "We both signed a joint declaration on a new strategic partnership between China and Indonesia. This not only reflects the new level of relationship between China and Indonesia, but it will also influence positively the relationship between China and Asia, and the solidarity and cooperation between Asian and African countries."
President Susilo described Hu Jintao's visit to Indonesia as a "milestone" in bilateral relations.
The two heads of state agreed on Monday to boost bilateral trade by more than 50 percent over the next three years to 20 billion US dollars.
The two countries also signed a number of agreements aimed at improving cooperation on trade, fisheries and other economic sectors.
