Macao Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah says the "one country, two systems" policy is a fundamental guarantee of the rule of law in the special administrative region.

Speaking at the 12th anniversary of the issuing of the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Edmund Ho Hau Wah says Macao's unprecedented economic prosperity after its return to China in 1999 demonstrates the vitality of the policy.

He says that only under the "one country, two systems" policy, Macao can enjoy a high degree of autonomy.
