China's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Liu Jianchao, says stronger dialogue and cooperation is the most effective way to solve textile trade disputes.
Liu Jianchao's comments came after some textile and apparel producers in a number of European and American countries urged governments to restrain textile imports from China.
Liu Jianchao says the dispute was mainly caused by improper arrangements and over-protection of the importing countries.
He described a suggestion that China was to blame as 'irrational'.
